Notification bubble has gray background and white text in Lubuntu

I use Lubuntu and I am very content. Some days ago I was playing around and installed KDE. I removed it a couple of hours later. After that I noticed that the notification boxes that Lubuntu was showing (like those from Pidgin) were no longer black with white bold text, but light gray with white normal text. I can barely read what they say when they pop up.

Some settings might be wrong somewhere. Can somebody point them out?

Here's a small screenshot.

When you installed KDE and used it for a while, you were left with a hidden folder in your home directory (~/.kde).

The offending setting may be stored in .kde. Since you removed KDE, it is safe to delete .kde.

Try deleting .kde, then ctrl+alt+backspace to restart the X server. That may cure the problem.
