No mail messages shown in folder under Inbox in Evolution

Hi !

On opening evolution on my CentOS 5.5, one of the folders under Inbox showed no mails. On seeing the size of the corresponding file, it was found to be 2 GB in size.I tried to rename the file but evolution did not allow me to do that. I shut down and restarted evolution. Now that folder is totally missing from the view. I have very important mails in that folder.

Can some one suggest method how can I recover those mails ?

Thanks In Advance

1. A small correction - I tried renaming a folder.

2.I shutdown normally by clicking the cross button on top right.

3. In GUI only.

4. Missing from the list of folders in the left pane of Evolution.

so you turned off the gui and not the mail client

is the mail stored on your local harddrive or on a different server ?

if the mail is stored on your local drive is the folder still there with it's original name or the new name .
look in ~/.evolution/mail

gui's do not show and do everything
