Network Projector for Windows, any take?
Linux based devices can be used as powerful appliances.
One of them is a network projector. All new versions of MS-Windows offer the option to "Connect to a Network Projector". This device may be used to upgrade some old hard wired projectors and to use a regular TV set as a computer screen for presentations. Any one knows about a this kind of 'server'. (I understand that the projector is a client and the client is the server). My understand is that the Microsoft protocol is based on RDP, so xrdp /rdesktop may have most of the bits required. There is a sample projector for Windows (CE) embedded on MSDN (Microsoft Developer Network) but is highly proprietary. I appreciate any information about the subject, fcm |
Hello and welcome to start.
There would be a very small user base for this task but here you go. Do you have a network projector? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...ded.60%29.aspx http://mrpogson.com/2010/09/10/how-t...with-gnulinux/ Could use a virtual machine of some ms product. Ask Epson to fix their Iprojection app for linux. |
Windows projector using a linux device
I'm not sure if there is an small base. The fact that the option 'connect to a network projector' is on every new windows based device, tell me that a few may be interested in using this function.
I have the MS bits for the WEC700 and WEC800 embedded, but they will turn the box into Windows and not Linux: will miss the flexibility. The code is very tied to MS that is hard to make and abstraction and recover the protocol. A promising device is ChromeCast, however is focused on google products. Will be awesome if you can use this, or a similar device, to connect your Windows laptop to a TV as a remote projector. I think that keeping the dialog open, someone will show up either a commercial or GPL option for this windows compatible projector project... |
Do you own a networked projector? Have you heard of anyone using linux with one?
