How do I replace the default network monitor on the LXDE panel with the WICD monitor?

You can add or remove them from the panel. Also if you have the option "Panel Settings" you can edit the applets in the panel.

I must be missing something here. I tried editing the panel settings to launch wicd client with no success. I also deleted the network manager monitor and tried to add a new one with wicd, but also no success I get no option to use wicd-client, only network manager monitor. It does work fine if I switch desktop to XFCE.
