Need help to make all file- and directory names linux conform.
I have a huge mp3 compilation. And I did a change from windows to linux (forever this time, I swear). And I have a lot of filenames with characters not accepted by linux. Like
Korn - 08 - K@#?%!.mp3
How can I change these filenames quick and easy to linux conform filenames without destroying the basic message of the filename? I also want this for directories.
And I don't like the spaces in the name of files and directories, how get I rid of it? It's annoying on the commandline...
Is there a software for that out there, or can I do it with a linux command line?
In some cases I also have german umlaut in a file or directory name, like ö ä ü
If you search LQ you'll find at least half a dozen scripts to rename MP3's.
Thx, I should use the search button again...
