Nautilus - ssh - filenames with space

Hi,

System: Slackware, Gnome, Nautilus.

I run things like OO and GIMP on a server and access them via ssh. When I click on a file in Nautilus that has a space in the filename the corresponding program opens but reports the file (or rather, files) doesn't exist, because in fact it is reading each part of the filename separately.

Is there any solution to this other than the obvious one of avoiding whitespace in filenames?

TIA,

Andrew

Have you tried wrapping the filename in quotes like this: "a name with spaces"?

EDIT: Sorry - I was assuming you were opening the files from the command line, but it looks like that's not the case.

According to the info at books.google.com, there are scripts at http://g-scripts.sourceforge.net/ which should do what you need. I'm not a nautilus user so I couldn't try them out.
