Nautilus Freeze?

Hello again!

Okay so Im confused about something that happened. I believe it started when I had a CD in the drive and took it out while Nautilus was open after burning some songs on it through Windows. But I restarted the computer, and now GNOME takes a very long time to load up after I authenticate, and the file manager will not load up. The taskbar shows "starting" but nothing comes up. Then after maybe like 4 minutes, it disappears. I can start a terminal up and use "killall nautilus" to which it goes back to the prompt, telling me that it was running since it didnt say it didnt find that process running.

Konqueror and Dolphin work so I can use them. Oh and now my original wallpaper doesnt pull up.. it stays at the same wallpaper I have set for GDM!

So, I guess my question is really three. First, is there anything I can do to fix my issue? And if not, is there any files I can delete from my profile that would fix it, but not mess up my existing menus configurations? I am sure its profile related.. I can login as ROOT into GNOME without any issues at all. Th other question is, is there a place in Linux that I can create a menu that is for every user that signs in? That would eliminate the need to preserve my menu configuration in GNOME, allowing me to jsut delete the files and let it start over.

Thank you!
Kat

Try creating a new user from root, if it works, you can either copy data to new user or reconfigure that account.
Hope that helps you.

yay thank you!

I ended up comparing the files between my user account and root, and what I found is that my profile had a session-restore folder. I deleted it, and now GNOME works fine :)

But out of curiosity, is there a way to make my profile menu populate for everyone who signs in? Like the All Users folder in windows.

I myself can not answer that question, but there is someone in here in this forum that may be able to help you.
