MSFT and Novell

With the latest news about MSFT and Novell, in effect, merging, what is the long term effect on Linux? When will voice dictation come back to Linux, in spite of IBM's abandonment? Is Linux going to be a viable OS, in the long term

Please discuss this issue in this thread. Linux Software/Kernel/Games/Desktop is for Linux related technical questions.

I am closing this thread so that the discussion about MS and Novell remains in one thread.
