moved to Gnome 3 and can't drag and drop urls anymoe
I upgraded my Fedoral 14 to 16 yesterday and I am working through the UI changes. The one that stymies me the most is that I can no longer figure out how to drag and drop a url from Firefox onto a custom launcher.

On F14, I had a custom launcher that wrapped get_flash_videos. I simply dragged a link to a video page to the launcher on the top panel and viola it launced a termnal with get_flash_videos downloading the video.

Now on F16 with Gnome 3 this all seems lost in for the sake of progress?

I can recreate my old launcher on the destop or in a Nautilis file manager window, but I can't get it to accept a drag-n-drop url from Firefox. The ability to add the launcher to the top panel seems to be gone.

Any pointers appreciated!

The irony of your reply is that it is the thread I started back in F14 and referred to in my initial post.

Gnome 3 and F16 has broken all that.

I got the launcher to appear in the Activities/Applications list. I just added the desktop file below to ~/.local/share/applications

[Desktop Entry]
Exec=getvid %U
Comment=Invokes get_flash_videos.
Comment[en]=Invokes get_flash_videos.

However, I cannot figure out how to drag and drop an object onto it.

If I click on something (a link in FireFox) and drag it up to the Activities menu, I cannot access the Applications list without releasing the mouse button and losing the object I am dragging.

Another data point, I have another F16 that uses Gnome 3 fallback mode. I can put the same desktop launcher on the top panel and drag-n-drop successfully.

Must be a Gnome 3 live feature?
