Mouse trailing effect... possible?

I was wondering if there's such a thing for linux as the windoze trailing effect for the mouse pointer.

Couldn't find it in control center, either in 'Appearance and Themes' nor in 'Peripherals->Mouse'. (Translated from spanish, sorry if names are not correct)

Couldn't find either how to do this generally in X(maybe it's not depending on a wm)

I tried xdesktopwaves, and though amazing, that's not what i'm looking for. I'm just looking for a simple trailing effect for the mouse pointer.

So, is it possible at all? Is there already any app/method providing this feature?

I'm using:
KDE 3.5.2
Xorg 7.1
Gentoo (2006.1 profile, i.e. GCC 4)

Any advice welcome, thanks
