Question Mouse pointer

Why is my mouse pointer gone after I have been away from the computer long enough for the system to go to sleep??? There is no mouse pointer when I wake the system up and I need to manually shut down the computer and start up again to get the pointer. Ideas??? Thank you.

This is most unusual. I think those who can help you will want more information. For starts
  • Which version Ubuntu,
  • what desktop environment/window manager, and
  • what make/model computer?

You could try installing a different desktop environment (XFCE, Fluxbox, KDE), choosing it at time of logon (see the "session" menu"), and seeing if the problem occurs with it also. That would indicate whether it was local to a particular environment or computer-wide.

Also, is that chocolate company in Lititz still in business? They made great chocolate.

The OP knows what a cursor is, it's just disappearing after sleep mode.

Or maybe you're a spammer.

Mouse Pointer

I upgraded from Ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10, but mouse still disappears after a sleep. I have both Windows 7 and Ubunto on my computer. The loader defaults to Ubuntu if I do not select Windows within the first 10 seconds. The computer is a Dell Dimension E521.

I reported it as spam, and the mods probably deleted it.

Hmm
If the mouse is gone just use the keyboard to wake the machine up.
