Mounting CD/DVD on Ubuntu 10.04

Hi everybody,
i whish i am in the right section to post my problem ^^
So, i'm trying to mount my DVD on my Ubuntu 10.04, by taping on the terminal:

Quote:
sudo mount -t iso9660 /dev/dvd /media/mycd/
but I always have this answer:

Quote:
mount: no medium found on /dev/sr0
I searched everywhere on the net, but i didn't find how to resolve this problem of /dev/sr0

You do have a DVD disk in the drive?

If so then find out what device your dvd drive is. It's not at /dev/sd0

Or are you trying to mount an audio cd?

There needs to be a DVD disk in the drive. You can't mount an empty dvd drive. You can't mount a blank DVD. There has to be a file system on it.
You can mount a data or video DVD.

Looks like there is no file system in the drive or you are mounting the wrong device node.

If your DVD is ok then look for the drive.
Code:
dmesg | grep dvd
Code:
dmesg | grep cd
Code:
dmesg | grep sd
Code:
dmesg | grep sr
Gnome probably has some tools to tell you where your drives are.

I thought that ubuntu was suppose to auto mount drives. What is it using? HAL, udev?
Code:
camcontrol devlist
should find your optical drives too

Or just use this:

Code:
dmesg | grep 'dvd|cd|sd|sr'
