Make Numix GTK Theme a different color.

Hi.

I love the numix-gtk-theme in Debian 9. The only thing I dislike about it is the awful orange/red highlight color. Can this be changed to a light blue?

Thanks.

Sure can, but how to do it is another question. Never tried it myself, but you could find what is hex value of that red color. My guess is that it is #f06860, based on Numix openbox theme. Then, copy whole folder from /usr/share/themes/numix or however it is called there, to the /home/usesrname/.themes folder and rename it, for example to numix-blue. After that use sed to change all occurrences of that hex value for red with hex value for blue. But you will have to make your own icons for assets and such where numix uses red color, I guess. So, something like gimp, select by color and change to color you would like to, with fill selection.

Hmm, just searched net for numix blue and found this. So, if you do not want to change it yourself, perhaps some of these will be good enough for you: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=numix-blue...-3&ia=software.

Hi dejank.

I tried all those already and highlight colors are great but the themes make the menus look terrible [image 1 with numix-blue and image 2 with original numix].

I think my system (MATE 1.16.2) is using the GTK3 part of the Numix theme - I don't see a way to edit it. But there is a way to edit the GTK2 files on the theme.

I was using Arc Darker for a while but left it due to it's faded panel text (it looks grey) - it'd be much easier to read as white font. I want a dark panel GTK3 theme that looks good all round - Numix comes closest but the highlight color is the only bad thing about it.

There's always something amiss. ;-)

I take it back - the orange/reddish color* is not awful - it's just not my cup of tea. I much prefer a blue/green or even a grey highlight color.

Edit: * I just found out the name of that color - 'Sunset Orange' from http://www.htmlcsscolor.com/hex/F0544C

I can't believe I'm saying this but the orange highlight color is starting to grow on me. :)

gnome-color-chooser might be able to do it.

Hi AM.

GCC did nothing.

linustalman 07-25-2017 02:52 PM

I tried this and it changed the highlight color but the panel did not remain dark - it changed to a light grey color.
