Main Menu Panel Autohide(show) speed

system: Fedora 11 Gnome

i'm just wondering how can i alter the speed my menu panel slides in and out of autohide mode when i hover over it?

it takes about 1 second or more for it to slide out when the cursor is placed over the panel, how can i alter this so it slides out more promptly
