Hi,
I'm looking for some membership tracking software that is either free or very inexpensive for my local church. I figure with so many Linux organizations someone would have created some software to track members.
Exactly what are you looking for? There are many "community" software out there. You can find several types of community software at www.opensourcecms.com including forums, blogs and CMSes.
Or are you looking for a desktop based application which can manage "contacts"? This is also available. In particular look at korganizer and kaddressbook.
Are you looking for a web-based app or a desktop based app?
harishankar thanks for the suggested software and sorry for not being more explicit about what I was looking for.
As a start, I want to be able to track contact information including, First Last Name, Spouse's name, children's name, birthdays for everyone in family, address, phone numbers, email, committees that they are on, member number.
In the future other things might be added but this would be a start. A desktop application would be OK or something that would run on a Linux server with a database would also work. I will also try to do more searching.
Thanks again,
Andy
I searched around a bit specifically for the kind of software you're looking for and it does look as though Linux doesn't have too many like this, unfortunately.
Seeing your present requirement you might be able to improvise with a generic contact management tool like the one I mentioned.
