Looking for a good, real-transparency terminal
Ok, this is quite the hunt I am on. Reasoning: I'm trying to avoid KDE/Gnome/XFCE. Reasoning why I want to avoid any DEs: I just uninstalled KDE (the last parts of it), and would like to see how much I can get out of my system without having to mess with any of them.
Ok, anyways, back on topic: Currently I use aterm, which lacks real transparency. I do not have XGL installed, not Compiz, and would like to know if such a terminal exist outside of a DE. I've looked at Eterm some (it looks a bit, hmm, awkward), and I have yet to mess with rxvt (the fact its 2x bigger then aterm is kind of sad). For some side info: Openbox 3.3_rc2 No KDE, Gnome, XFCE, Rox, nor alot of that kind of thing. Gentoo (their forums I've asked and didn't get much of a responce from, so I'm asking here) |

Thats false transparency still, the site says so.
urxvt is supposed to, although it seem, hmm, a bit buggy with me |
aterm and rxvt offer transparency - but it is simulated still...
I use aterm with fluxbox. Works well for me - even if it is only simulated. I haven't read of any TRULY transparent terminal program. If you find one - make sure you post it! |
Well, I guess we'll have to wait for XGL for true transparency
urxvt comes close, but still isn't there ;) |
