Login preference menu in CentOS 6.3
 

I'm trying to install this theme But I can't find the login preference menu to drag and drop the GDM theme. How to install GDM theme in cent OS 6.3?

I've not tried it, but this Fedora solution may be what you need

Thanks. But that didn't work. That solution is for Gnome 3 and I'm using Gnome 2.

Sorry — I wasn't thinking. The job has to be done manually. The log-in screen lives in /usr/share/backgrounds. As you see, there are two defaults: standard and wide screen. Simply replace one of them with your preferred picture.

If I recall correctly - while it is possible to change the login background image fairly easily (David's instructions in the post above), I do not think it is possible to install the theme. It has something to do with changes to GDM.

The page says you can use "make install" (as root). But don't blame me if it does something nasty!

As i recall centOS changed versions of the grub and a few other things
as a result the GDM themes were disabled in 6 ( gnome2 )

though i do have 2 installs of ScientificLinux6.3 ( 32 bit-- old machine and a 64 bit )

i seam to remember that in 6.0 that it could not be changed easily

That you really had to do a lot of work to do it

but it might be fixed
