Linux Mint14 no apps or bar or menu

I have installed the new Linux Mint 14. I have been trying to delete and reinstall WINE as it had working issues. However when I rebooted I had no bar and no desktop icons. Just had the wallpaper with no way to access any apps. Need to sort this out asap if poss. I can access the menu and believe it or not I can see the desktop on the menu with a terminal icon. Hope someone has a magic wand out there and thank you for reading this
