libc6 2.4-1 needed to complete list of dependencies for libfame-0.9_0.9.1-0.2_i386.de

Hi all,

I am new to this forum but not entirely new to linux. I have been using several distro's for the past 2 years sofar but Mepis seems to be the one for now. As I am well on my way to move away from that other os, I need certain functionality in this case anything transcode related. On my (long) journey of getting all the dependencies needed I keep breaking my brains over how to get the right libc6 version 2.4-1 (see below). It really doesn't matter what I type into google.com/linux on trying to get this dreaded file but no luck. all the others seem to come up fairly quick and install fairly easy, result 0. Can anyone help me to get this file?

Thanks for reading my thread
Ron.

Why can't you just use the version of libfame that resides in your repositories?

Thanks for your reply Michux, I am installing this version of libfame simply because other packages require this. I install this either through synaptic or kpackage and as I go I stumble accross unmet dependencies which I then download from the net and install. Up until now I have been able to find all of these except this particular one. I think I am on the right track as the list of unmet dependencies shrinks everytime again. Most of the files I get from the Ubuntu repositories. I don't know enough about it to really answer why I need this particular version. I just want to have (full) functionality in Transcode and that is where the hunt for unmet dependencies comes from. I am installing Transcode version 1.0.1-0.0. If there is an easier way to do this I am all open to suggestion.

Ron.

It looks like you have some messed up repositories configuration. You should be able to just "apt-get install libfame" or any other package and it should just work (dowanload all the dependencies). I just did that on my Ubuntu box and it worked flawlessy. Check your /etc/apt/sources.list file and compare it with the recommended one -- perhaps this will solve the issue faster than manually downloading the packages. You're not on Slackware, you shouldn't have to do that! :)

Sounds fair, here's a copy of my "sources.list" and an output I get from "apt get": (very long list...)

# See sources.list(5) for more information

and apt get:

Yes, when I see this I think it is messy too but I don't know how to fix it. Where do I find the recommended sources list that you mentioned in your reply? Thanks again for taking the time of going through this.
