Kubuntu won't keep screen resolution settings

I'm trying out Kubuntu instead of Gnome as Gnome keeps randomly re-booting back to the login screen. Kubuntu is very good (slower though), the problem is that every time I login it defaults to 1280x1024 rather than my favoured 1152x864, it's only started doing this a week or so ago.

I've got the screen size applet on the panel so it's not a big problem, just a nuisance!

The only thing I've installed recently is the KBFX menu which I've now un-installed, no change though.

Please help!

Have you tried to change your /etc/X11/xorg.conf in a way that you remove unwanted resolution/s from the appropriate lines.You can use
Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
from the command line to set things manually.

No luck

Thanks for your reply, this is all new stuff to me.

Tried the solution but all it did was take me through a keyboard setup, I've tried answering differently to the questions but still takes me through the keyboard thing and then kicks me out.

Open /etc/X11/xorg.conf file with the text editor with root privileges or run from the terminal;
Code:
sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
then look for the sections like Monitor or Display.Try to set things there and when you're done save the file and reboot.I think there is an option in the KDE Control center to set default screen resolution,search a little,use Google,use LQ search forums because your problem has been discussed many times before.
