Kubuntu/Ubuntu system requirements

Hello all, just found this site and it looks great!

I need to know what the Kubuntu/Ubuntu system requirements are because i want to try it out.

I just got a second hand computer and has the following RAM and cpu speed:

Pentium III 939 mhz, 256 MB RAM (SDRAM)(plus 128), 1024x768 minimum screen res with a ATI 128 MB video card.

Could these specs allow kubuntu or ubuntu to run smooth?

ok, -rohbot

I dont know of a place that lists system req for them, but I think that will cover it. Kubuntu comes as a livecd so you can test it out anyway before you install it (of course it will be a bit slower loading apps off the cd) but you'll get the idea.

PC requirements

I have run ubuntu on a 500mhz pentium and it worked fine.

My Desktop is a 800mhz system and it is running MEPIS great.

I would recomend MEPIS over Kubuntu. MEPIS uses ubuntu as its base and I had a lot better luck with things working in it. Kubuntu seemed too buggy.

The RAM and video should be fine also. Good luck...
