Konqueror freezes on opening / filesystem in FC6

recently konqueror has been freezing when opening a new instance and trying to open the root filesystem. It just hangs no response, nothing.

I can access the filesystem from other applications and the command line, no problems with any mounts etc.

Any ideas on where to start looking ?

Did you recently install any packages that might effect konquerer

the only thing that changed from the time konqueror worked and didn't is the 'attempted' installation of ndiswrapper to support my wifi card.

(I can't say for sure if there is a direct correlation between these things, as I don't use konqueror very much, so didn't notice exactly when it started having troubles)

Also, please note that everything else can see and browse the fs ok

Ok, so I decided to upgrade to the latest version of KDE (3.5.6) to see if I could flush out the konqueror problem. But still no joy. :-(

So I tried removing all specific configuration for konqueror under $HOME/.kde/ and restarted. Now, I can open up specific folders such as the home folder etc, but it still freezes when trying to view the root folder...

I'm not really sure what else I can check - any ideas would be welcome...?
