Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I just started using Suse 10.1 at work and noticed something interesting with Kontact/KMail/Kaddressbook's use of LDAP.
The problem is that I can never use LDAP in the address book due to one big factor. It searches on a blank query as soon as you try and open address book and always returns 1200 results (Confimed as server maximum by running tests on the commandline). If however you disable the resource (the LDAP you configred) then enter your search field and then enable the resource again it works fine. I have tried playing around with it and even if you update the search field it only searches the first bunch of results returned.
So finally my question is, does anyone know a way to postpone the blank search until something is entered??
Sorry if this dosn't make much sense sort of hard to explain. I have got the mail to work by setting the LDAP search under preferences, however it isn't very useful when trying to get phone numbers etc.
