Keep window on top in gnome
I have searched this forum and Google for this, but I have not found anything. Maybe I am not using the correct search terms as I am sure someone else has wondered about this.
Anyway, what I would like to do is keep a window I am working with on top of a another window. For example-- when working in terminal but reading instructions from a web browser I would like my terminal window to stay on top of my browser window even if I click on the browser window. I have done this for years with multiple programs in Windows-- but have not been able to find a program to do this in Linux using Gnome. I would not suspect this would matter but my distro is Ubuntu 6.10. Thanks for any help you can provide. George |
If you right click on the window list button for the program you want to keep on top, there should be a checkbox for "On Top".

Thank you cgjones. Now I feel like such an idiot :-). I could swear I had tried that just to see if the option was there and did not see it (guess I didn't though). Well, I have some ID 10 T form on my desk that must be completed :-).

No problem. I've always wondered what that check box did. I see it everytime I move a window between workspaces. When you are done filling out those ID 10 T forms, send them my way so I can co-sign them.
