KDE sound system crashing with SIGSEGV, slackware-current, 2.6.17.13

Okay ever since I installed Slackware I've been trying to get the sound system up on KDE 3.5.4. But all I get when starting it, on every audio device but esd (which just sits there and constantly restarts) is a crash of artsd when I click "Test Sound". The backtrace goes as follows:

Quote:

Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1".

XMMS works fine while playing mp3 files through ALSA, but I want to get KDE squared off.

Is anyone else having this problem? A resolution would be appreciated.
