KDE is a little flakey
 

I just installed Slackware and started X. The problem is that KDE isn't cooperating. The cursor works fine but when I hover over the items in the menu they come and go but doesn't remain consistant enough to see what's being selected.

Anyone else have a problem w/ KDE?

You could try upgrading to Alien Bob's KDE 4.6.5.
