KDE, GTK, QT theming insanity

Hello everyone. I'm running Arch linux with Awesome WM. I'm trying to get a more streamlined look on my desktop by configuring both Qt and GTK apps to use GTK themes. Normally I would simply do this by installing both lxappearance and qtconfig, and setting qtconfig to use GTK+. This works fine for some of my applications, but not all. I've attempted to follow this wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...K_Applications, but reading it and understanding what I actually need out of it is a chore to put it lightly. There's just a jumble of various software and it's unclear as to which ones would be useful for what I want. Paragraph after paragraph of: qtconfig, gtk, kde, kde-gtk, qtconfig-kde4, qtcurve, qtcurve-gtk-kde4-qtconfig-confusedyet?-qt4-gtk+, and so forth.

Basically, I have a few select GUIs that aren't applying. Gnome-mplayer, wireshark(theme doesn't apply plus GIGANTIC icons), and the few kde apps I've installed(kate, konsole, kwrite). I know wireshark uses QT(and thus should apply the GTK theme as per qtconfig), and the KDE apps must not conform for other reasons, but I'm not exactly sure why and I'm not sure why the theme won't apply to mplayer. If someone could kindly straighten me out that would be most helpful. Thank you for your patience.
