KDE broke itself, can't load desktop

I have suse 10.0 32-bit on my laptop. Earlier today there was a weird pseudo crash in KDE 3.5.0 when the desktop went black, but the kicker menu and open applications still worked. I logged out, rebooted and now can't log in to KDE (I'm now on FWWN or whatever it's called). running startx gives the following output

Quote:

Could not find 'krandrinithack' executable. / *.so: undefined symbol:*
Problem with the (lib)kdebase*.rpm. Apparently not fatal, but missing symbols can be caused by having a partial or failed upgrade (or you removing or deleting stuff). I'd start looking for info about past upgrades first or have your distro's package manager upgrade stuff properly.

Thanks for that tip. A downgrade of kdebase3 from 3.5.0 to 3.4.2 worked, though I updated the kde packages months ago and it worked happily. Oh well.
