KDE 4 problem with unicode

Hi all, I am using KDE 4 and am having problems with unicode. I have a number of folders that use characters such as and they do not display at all.

For example, when browsing through folders using Dolphin they simply don't show at all. I will have other folders without special characters show but where there should be the folder(s) with special characters they aren't there at all. No boxes or question marks or anything else in the characters place, the folder or files simply don't display at all. Even using Konsole doesn't yield anything.

I've tried setting different views for unicode characters and the like but nothing seems to work. I am also able to see the folders in GNOME and in Windows. Lastly, I've tried it on OpenSUSE 11.0, Kubuntu 8.04, and Fedora 9 and all give me the same results.

If anyone has any help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks to everyone in advance.
