KDE 3.5 NOT RESPONDING AFTER ca. 15 minutes

Okay,

I've got some problems with kde...

I'm using Slackware 12 and KDE 3.5 on a Dell Laptop (Vostro 1000, dual core (AMD), 2 GB RAM) .

I can's use my mouse if I stop using my laptop for more than 15 minutes (could be a bit longer). I thought it had something to do with my screensaver, so I toggled it off --> mouse keeps refusing to work.

I can still move the mouse, but I can't click anything. If I press Ctrl-ALt-Del I get the little box to open the taskmanager and if I press ENTER it refuses to open the taskmanager (nothing happens).
My SuperKaramba-widgets (the Furious ones) show that my cpu1 is using 100% of its capacity, cpu2 uses 2 % (at the moment that the mouse doesn't do his thing). I use 250 MB of RAM (I got 2 GB), so this can't be the problem.

Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be?

Thanks.

You need to track down what is using so much cpu. Run top in a terminal window and keep it open until the lock up happens. You should be able to see which process is using so much cpu.

This is what top says:

<table>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td>PID</td>
<td>USER</td>
<td>PR</td>
<td>NI</td>
<td>VIRT</td>
<td>RES</td>
<td>SHR</td>
<td>S</td>
<td>%CPU</td>
<td>%MEM</td>
<td>TIME</td>
<td>COMMAND</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>3039</td>
<td>ROOT</td>
<td>20</td>
<td>0</td>
<td>157</td>
<td>24M</td>
<td>4208</td>
<td>R</td>
<td>100</td>
<td>1,3</td>
<td>31.40</td>
<td>X</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>

Does this mean that X is the reason why KDE stops responding?
