KDE 3.5.9 - Konqueror - location toolbar can't be placed next to the main toolbar

Hello. I use Konqueror 3.5.9 in KDE 3.5.9 on Debian Sid at AMD64. After one of the upgrades, which probably changed the Debian revision from KDE 3.5.9-1 to 3.5.9-2, it is impossible to place the location toolbar to the right side of the main toolbar on the same line.

I can put the location toolbar both above and under the main toolbar, I can make it floating, but I can't put it to the same line with the main toolbar, as I used to have it.

Now it steals part of my screen:) and thus messes up my carefully arranged work ergonomics:). Do you have any idea as to why such a change occurs between 3.5.9-1 and 3.5.9-2 and how to make it work again, so that the location toolbar can be on the same line as the main toolbar? Thank you very much.

I always thought that wasn't possible, I could never get the location bar to live on the same line as the main toolbar.

I messed around with it for a bit, and it seems that it's actually the "Location Bar" action/element itself, added to the Location Toolbar, that keeps that toolbar from sharing a line with other toolbars. If you go into "Configure Toolbars", select the Location Toolbar from the dropdown, and remove the action called "Location Bar", you'll then be able to put that toolbar on the same line as another. Of course this is useless because you've just removed the actual Location Bar action/element. I tried adding that action/element to the main toolbar, and it shows up in the configure toolbars menu well enough, but it won't display on the actual toolbar.

After all this, it occured to me to try adding the items on the Main Toolbar to the Location Toolbar. This seems to work great (though I've only added the Back, Forward and Home buttons so far), so try that - go into "Configure Toolbars", select the Location Toolbar from the dropdown, and add whatever items you have on your Main Toolbar to your Location Toolbar, and disable/hide the main toolbar.

Thanks for posting about this bhy, I've wanted to make use of the grey space filling half my main toolbar by sticking the address bar there for a long time now.

edit: the enlarge/shrink icons buttons and the view mode (icons, details, whatnot) button-bar are not in the list of available actions to add. Neither of those is an available action in the same sense as all the others though(the enlarge/shrink buttons are under an item called <Merge> and the view mode buttons are all under a single item called "ActionList: viewmode_toolbar"). The description of the viewmode_toolbar (in the Configure Toolbars dialog) says you can't add it again if you remove it. And I don't see how you can add the enlarge/shrink buttons either if you remove them, there's no <Merge> item in the available actions list. Both of these can configured under the View menu though...

So finally I added the back, forward, reload and stop buttons to the location toolbar and now it works the way I want it. Although I still don't understand why it used to be possible to put the two toolbars on the same line and why this possibility disappeared. Also it seems to me as bad design principle that there are limitations as to what can be placed where and that therefore you can't put any button you want on any toolbar you want.
