KD4-Karamba questions

KDE4 has finally converted me, and I've gone experimenting. Nothing broke - yet.

Karamba has stumped me so far though. Anything for Karamba from KDE-look.org always fails to be installed when using 'Install from Local File' on the Add new Widgets bar. Some of them come within a tar.gz/bz2 archive, which fails. Some of them come as .skz files, which also fail. And some get extracted and aren't either, which again, fails.
So what I'm trying to understand is
A: why is Karamba refusing anything from KDE-look.org
B: Where do successfully installed (if there is such a thing) Karamba things get put?
and C: can you just extract a tar.gz/bz2 one and manually install using the directory it uses in my second question.

The only other question is - will Karamba things made for KDE3.x still function in KDE4.x, or is it touchy or no go?

Thanks in advance.

Looking on kde-look.org, I looked up a couple of theme files to see what it said about installing. The one for an Amarok cover said to unpack the tar.gz and run the ./install.sh script. Look and see if the ones you unpacked have such a script.

Some of them only have the .skz files, others don't have anything of the sort except a collection of python scripts - none of which for installing.
It seems that sometimes the .skz ones will actually install, but refuse to run or sometimes even crash plasma-desktop if they do.

Opening SuperKaramba, I clicked on Get New Stuff. I'm running Slackware64, so I didn't see a lot of stuff in there i was interested in. But I did download a System Monitor. It went fine and was added to the list. I then clicked on the monitor and then clicked Add To Desktop. There it was, sitting on the Desktop! I had to right-click it to unlock and move it elsewhere, but it worked just fine.

Ahh, now I see - I didn't realise SuperKaramba was separate from the Karamba that the normal Plasma desktop has listed. Now I've got them working perfectly. Thanks!

Glad it worked for you - and I also have a new toy to play with maybe. Maybe I need to go through this massive Kmenu stuff again.
