Kate printed documents with too large fonts
 

Printing in Kate results in fonts on the paper of about 14 pts or more
when the document is written using 10 pt font. This issue happens in
Kate, Kwrite, and Kdevelop. It does NOT happen with Open Office.org or
(just to eliminate the printer itself) in any windows apps.

Any ideas on why this is and what I can do about it?

I think they can be configured to show one thing on the screen but print something else. Try here: Settings > Configure editor. In the menu to the left, select Fonts & Colors. Then on the right side you should see Schema. To the right of that you should see kwrite - normal in a drop down menu. Click that and select kwrite - Printing. Then you select the Font tab and choose what you want.
