can you play the video in a different player (not just different front-end, but player)? if you dual-boot this machine, can you watch it in your other operating system? i havent searched the error message, but to me it looks like the video card (driver) cant handle the video information: are you using the proper ATI driver for your card, or is it some generic one?

Hi ,

I am not able to play this Video in Linux , I have WinXP Professional 32 bit and also 64 bit , i am able to see the video in both the other OS . But since i wont be using Windows that much .. i want my Fedora 9 to perform them .

I have not installed any Video driver for ATI as of now , it is just taking the generic Driver came along with fedora 9 .

If this is the case of the Video driver, then i need to install them . But i am little confused because i see a lot of threads telling that , there is a problem with ATI card in a CRT Monitor . If i install the driver and in future if i need to revert the driver back .. what should i do ( taking the consideration that the CRT Monitor does not performs well with ATI ) .

Thanks
Peeths

ive never heard of any video card or video card driver requiring a specific monitor. if your monitor is around 5 years old it should be fine. the only thing that should matter is the refresh rate, but if you have a CRT you probably have more than 60hz (and you should set it to the maximum supported refresh rate).

i think i tried linux when i had an ATI card, and probably with a CRT monitor (again, that shouldnt matter), and the driver installation was very good. i imagine their support and driver installation process has only improved since then. try and install the appropriate ATI driver and you should be fine. unless there is a disclaimer in something your downloading saying they are not responsible for damaged hardware, you are safe to install it.

I installed the latest driver and it didn't made anything change in my current behavior .
I am able to run mplayer in a low resolution using the command mplayer -vo X11 / file path .

Can i download and install the fglrx from the livna testing repo ?

Thanks
Peeths
