Is there any way to debug my GTK theme?

I'm trying to theme my Ubuntu installation (which is running Cinnamon instead of Unity). I believe I've edited the GTK theme files correctly. When I go to settings my new theme is there. But when I try to apply it, no change happens.

My thought is that I either haven't edited the files correctly or it's not being applied. Is there any tool (command, script, utility, etc.) that could help me find out what is going wrong? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

have you checked your ~/.xsession-errors file (or whatever the equivalent is on Ubuntu)?

Yes. And while I'm not experienced in its readout, it doesn't look like there's anything there pertaining to the theme.

It appears that other people have had this problem too. It seems to have to do with Cinnamon.
