Installing GNOME DESKTOP ENVIRONMENT from command line on fedora 8

My gnome desktop crashed after i enabled the desktop effects, now i am able to access the command line , i would like to know how to install Gnome desktop from command line using the fedora 8 dvd and not via yum.
IIRC, it is OK to install via yum, as long as the only repo you are enabled is fedora-install-media.repo which represents Fedora 8 DVD and left other repo(s) disabled. Then you need to yum install gnome-desktop...
PS: you need to edit manually all repos in /etc/yum.repos.d

I solved it anyway , i got into the TWM display manager and then installed system-config-packages via yum and then installed gnome again from the DVD.then ran metacity --replace ..restored the gnome and its working fine ..
