make it a distro that's a bit newer. fedora core 2 and up are SURE to have SATA support, mandriva 2005 and up as well (works here anyway).

could be that the distro's you tried are in fact older then sata itselve.
otherwise if it still fails, it's probebly your SATA controller.

hope this helps.

We do not email our answers, that defeats the whole purpose of the community, and the ability for other users to reference them.

Nor are we obligated to helping you SOOOONNNN as you put it, which to be honest, seems to be extremly cheeky and ill-mannered.

My advice is to also try a newer distro, i know for a fact that Arch Linux supports SATA and i imagine all the other popular distros do such as fedora core, Suse, Ubuntu etc.

Cds are extremly cheap from some vendors, and arch linux and debian have net cds that are only about 100MB in size.

Don't quite understand the

Not sure as to why ubuntu is not installing as it has great SATA support. and What does restarting XP have to do with ubuntu being hung up. As mentioned Arch linux defualts to SATA on its installation. And Yes Red hat 9 was before SATA drives or in their beta use. As for the dial up I would talk with whom ever and get that updated. Dial up is a waste of money.

I've removed your email add from the post. Firstly, the idea behind a forum is that you ask a question here and its answered here. Secondly, displaying your email address is inviting spam. As ethics mentioned, its not very polite to demand for answers "soon". Everyone is a volunteer here, so you will get an answer when someone who has it logs into the site and looks at your thread.

Redhat 9 is very old and has poor support for SATA drive and also reached its end of life a long time ago, so I don't think its even worth looking at.
