Installation issues of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 on Dell Vostro 200

Hello All

I am unable to install RHEL 4.0 on Dell Vostro 200 , which I bought recently... The installation does not proceed at all !

It asked me to choose the language by pressing SPACE bar, but if I press SPACE bar it does not accept.. I cannot even change the language options by using TAB button.. NO key works.. I have to shut off the system !!!

A) Do I need to Partition ? I thought, Linux CD would allow me to partition automatically
B) Does Hardware is supported to install Linux ?

Regards
SukMannava

I succeeded to install RHEL5 on vostro 200.

You will change BIOS,
1. SATA mode [IDE] -> [RAID]
2. boot first [CD-ROM]
3. Halt on [All, without Keyboard]

Good Luck!

Hello,
I have a dell inspiron 530 and I am facing same issue with centos 4.2, 4.5 and RHEL 4.7. I have tried the same options you have specified. Interestingly when I change the SATA mode to RAID, it would automatically change my boot first from CDROM to P1-HL-DT-ST DVD+/-.
In CMOS my disk drive shows SATA-0 SAMSUNG HG321JK.
Any help is appreciated.
