Question Illegal instruction (core dumped)

That's really bad!
I run Ubuntu Edgy. A few days ago, ALL of my GTK+ 1.x apps stopped working, even the ones I compiled by myself. The message I get is that in the subject:

Code:
Illegal instruction (core dumped)
Nothing more, nothing less.

Is there anything I can do to guess what the hell does hurt so much my machine? I really don't know what it should be, one day I woke up and I found that. It seems a quite generic message. How can I find some more hint to solve the problem?

Thanks for the help.
