I don't really know where to begin.
The output could be as simple as a text message in the gnome panel of what the output of:

I use wpa_gui to switch between my networks and it would be great if it could be made into a simple gnome panel applet.
Any ideas on this?
I tried to use the custom application launcher and run in terminal but it doesn't really get me anywhere...
In fact, thinking about it the network monitor panel applet would be great if it showed the AP when mouse hovered - like it does the name of the interface...
