I need to see "hidden" files (ones whose names begin with a period)

I have just switched from Mepis (which seems to be no longer supported) to Kwheezy. I have found that Kwheezy does not display 'hidden' files; I need to see and in some cases, modify, such files. (Mepis had no problem with that.) How do I do it on Kwheezy?

If you use Dolphin as filemanager, hit
Code:
ALT period
Or click on the wrench in the upper right hand corner and select "show hidden files"

Kind regards
