I need help ripping a Real audio or .wma webcast

I don't know how to do it. I have both Gnome and KDE (ubuntu, SUSE, PCLinuxOS) distros. I can figure out which apps are for the purpose but I really can't figure out what to do. I just want to save audio stream on my hard disk by ripping it to ogg or mp3 or whatever else...

Can you give me some pointers?

Thanks,
B

Try everybody's favourite music player, amarok, a program called stream ripper, and the following script for amarok: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=32842

My favorite is mplayer.

Just use:

mplayer http://myfavoritewebsite.com/stream -dumpstream -dumpfile <filename.mp3>

I can capture streams from shoutcast this way. You have to slice it all up later, but it saves having to download all the songs (I listen to classic rock, jazz, and classical music, I feel no regrets downloading songs)

Note: This does NOT mean your stream will automatically save as mp3. It'll save as whatever you rip it as. You must then convert it to mp3 if you so desire after that using mencoder (comes with mplayer) or any other converter.
