Smile I cannot activate Desktop Effects in Ubuntu Studio 8.04

Hello everyone.
I cannot activate the Desktop Effects on my Ubuntu Studio Desktop. this particuler computer has no internet at all, but I am able to get anything I might need to download to a third party. and the system I am running is:

CPU: AMD Sempron @ 1.60GHz
RAM: 2GB of DDR400
GPU: nVidia GeForce 5200FX (128MB of RAM)

if anyone can help me resolve my problem, it would be greatly appreciated

You are going to need the (new) nvidia drivers... and enable them in the "restricted hardware" section. Then you'll be good to go.

It is is the system menu at the top I believe. Has an icon of a green pci board.

Sorry don't have a Ubuntu machine handy to refresh my memory ont he location and exact names.
