How to update xfce?

Hi guys,

just a quick question,

What repository I need to put on my source.list so I can get updates for my xfce (stable updates, not unstable) ?

I got a Debian Lenny Stable running on XFCE.

Cheers + Regards!!

XFCE 4.4 is in the standard main repositories. If you want XFCE 4.6, then you need backports.

Is it worth it? does 4.6 works fine or is unstable still?

which one are the backport repositories? and on apt-get the command would be apt-get install xfce46 to install it, right?

Cheers!!

If you've put backports in your sources.list, it's just aptitude -t lenny-backports install xfce4. See this page for more about backports. I don't think you can have 4.4 and 4.6 installed at the same time. I don't know how stable 4.6 is, but backports should be relatively stable.

Thanks a lot mate!!I just install xfce 4.6 and is very good actually it fix a lot of bugs from 4.4!
Just one more quick question. I install xfce4.6 running xfce4.4 is there any problem doing that?? Does the system automatically overwrites the 4.4 to the 4.6 version?

Cheers

I assume there's no problem and that it just upgraded 4.4 to 4.6 since both packages are just named xfce4. You may have to logout and log back in for it to take effect is all.
