How to trigger a manual refresh/update in conky

I've set some keybindings on my machine to change some settings (like volume of alsa etc.).

What i'm trying to do is, when i'm pushing one of those buttons on my keyboard, to force conky to do a refresh (instead of waiting for the next update interval).

Is it possible to realize this? How?

conky, as it is, is not interactive.
This cannot be done except by lowering the exec* value for the desired element in the conkyrc.

Just modify & write the .conkyrc file.

habitual is right.

esp. with the volume buttons, you will always have a slight delay before the change shows up.

but conky is very light weight, you can raise the update value quite a bit.

there's other ways around this problem -

e.g.:
- have a seperate conky only for alsa volume. it updates much more often than the rest.
- use a different utility, like dzen2. it's VERY customizable but less eye candy than conky.
- ...
