How to reassign F1 under Gnome

Hi group,
I want to stop gnome-terminal from opening the 'Help Window' when I use the F1 key. I want the app running to see the F1 key action. I tried updating the Gnome keyboard shortcuts but that did not work.

Any ideas??

Thanks for your time.

Running Fedora 13 with Gnome 2.30.0.

You can make the change in gnome-terminal directly. Just edit the profile preferences and set the key binding for help to something other than F1. I use both Vim and Mutt, and have gnome-terminal's help key set to shift+F1.

To reassign key map, I've used xbindkeys once. But can't check right now, if it works with overlaying Gnome-Terminal's F1.
Give it a shot and let know if it works ;)

Sorry, I don't see any key binding interface in the Gnome-terminal GUI?

Sorry, it is in the Edit menu: "Keyboard Shortcuts...". When the dialog comes up, scroll down to the Help section and click on the Contents item. Click again on the shortcut. It should change to "New accelerator...". Simply type the shortcut you want to use for bringing up GNOME-Terminal's help and click the Close button to activate it.

I just noticed your location. I used to have a small telescope when I was a kid and used it to watch the radar antenna at that site turning from the San Tomas area of Campbell.

That was a long tine ago. I move here the same month they stopped the antenna in 1980.

That's it! Boy do I feel stupid, should have found that one myself.

Thanks.
