How to generate i915.ko from xf86-video-intel-2.4.2 ?

hi,
I have built the xorg stack (src obtained using git-clone) and compiled xf86-video-inte-2.4.2.

To my disappointment, I cannot find i915.ko. This should be generated
according to intellinuxgraphics, http://intellinuxgraphics.org/install.html

So what went wrong ? I appreciate your help because I have pursued this
issue for a long time. Thanks!!
