How to create notification icon in nofication area using command

Hi,

I am working in fedora core 10. I am doing a console application using java.

My task is to show an icon on the notification area when the application begins. And remove the icon when the application ends. And to show the frequently updated message from the application.

I have used some java sample on system tray but it is not supported. So I used notify-send command. It shows the message but no icon is created in the notification area.

Please help....

Thanks in Advance
