I am using Mandriva 2007 and KDE. I am behind a proxy server and to connect to messenger services (Yahoo!, MSN) I have used Gaim until now. Now I want to give Kopete a try. But I don't know how to configure Kopete to use my SOCKS4 proxy.
Please help me configure Kopete to use my SOCKS4 proxy server.
Okay. Here's more information that might be useful. I am behind an ISA Server Firewall installed on a Windows 2000 Server computer. On my Windows XP machine, I've configured MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger to connect directly to the Internet. This setting works because I've the ISA Client software installed. For the sake of testing, I've also connected successfully to both of the messenger services through the SOCKS4 proxy.
On my Mandriva 2007 box, using Gaim configured to use the same SOCKS4 proxy doesn't work (although it has worked flawlessly a while back). That's why I am trying to figure out how can I configure Kopete to use the SOCKS4 proxy.
By the way, is there any way other than SOCKS4 to connect to the messenger services from Linux considering my ISP is running Windows 2000 Server and ISA Server 2000?
