How to change default player from totem to vlc in Epiphany (Debian Lenny, P6)
 

Hi All,

I'm trying to change the default player in Epiphany from totem to vlc. I've changed the ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list file but now Epiphany doesn't auto. play quicktime movie (they would play auto. with totem but occasionally no sound).

Another issue is that some sites do not recognize vlc (for example trailers at apple.com) and only provide a link to download the quicktime player.

Any ideas?.

Thanks bhaslinux but it does not work (I'm still getting the link to download a QT player instead of vlc streaming the online clip).

Was totem able to stream online clips because of a plugin for epiphany?.

Also, wouldn't the changes I made to
~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list
be equivalent to selecting the preferred application with the tabs (the method you suggested)?.
